Students are involved in our local community through their participation in our monthly Cal Coast Cares (C3) volunteer opportunities. This community service program supports students in developing a sense of responsibility to our local and global communities.
All students in grades sixth through eighth must minimally complete ten qualifying community service hours per year while ninth through twelfth grade students are required to minimally complete twenty-five qualifying community service hours per year. Service hours are carried forward from year to year. Transferring students must meet with our C3 Director to determine their number of transferable community service hours. An equitable adjustment of the required number of hours for graduation commensurate with the time spent as a student at Cal Coast Academy will be made. Any senior graduate not completing the required number of service hours will not be granted an official diploma until the
needed hours are met.
Community service hours are to be completed after school, on weekends or during summer and/or vacation periods. All service hours must be documented by a signed Reflection form and submitted within three months of completion. In order to comply with our school’s community service requirements, students must submit their qualifying community service hours no later than the first of May.
We are committed to operating our school in a way that causes the least amount of disruption for our students and families. For that reason, we have adopted the outdoor classroom model.
Each of our open-air classrooms features retractable tent walls for proper ventilation and accommodates no more than 6 students to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
Cal Coast Academy is responsibly and equitably providing students with the in-person education they need amidst this global pandemic.
