Cal Coast Academy

Cal Coast Academy’s academic program has a solid foundation in both tradition and innovation. All of our courses are designed with the student in mind and achieve the ideal balance between depth of knowledge acquired through content, and breadth of knowledge gained through exploration. All of our courses are designed to elevate each student's academic knowledge and experience to its pinnacle. In addition to our rigorous University of California (UC) approved, college preparatory mainstream curriculum, students also benefit immensely from our expansive repertoire of Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) course offerings. Challenging and comprehensive, Cal Coast Academy's diverse curriculum provides a stable and balanced academic foundation. To further support and enhance the desired learning objectives, co-curricular activities, events, and resources are successfully embedded into the course curriculum which serve as catalysts to our students’ successful development and systematic application of critical thinking and problem-solving skills, effective communication, group collaboration, creativity, and innovation. Incorporating field trips, lectures, guest speakers, and hands-on activities, each co-curricular event plays a pivotal role in steadily preparing our student body in their quests to become well-educated and employable individuals equipped with critical 21st Century skills.

Individualized Learning

Intimate Class Size

Cal Coast Academy recognizes and values the importance of maintaining manageable class size to help promote and augment student success. Our intimate and less threatening class size of 6 students elevates participation and supports our interactive and collegiate learning methodology. Our student-centered instruction sways away from the lecture-directed, textbook- driven, antiquated approach to learning. Learning objectives are enhanced through a critical hybrid of personalization, collaboration, innovation, application, observation and exploration. By favoring a more responsive and hands-on experience, we allow our students the opportunity to stimulate one another's powers of thought through co-active learning.

One-on-One and Two-on-One Classes

Cal Coast Academy offers both a one-on-one and a two-on-one class format for any student, in any course. These classes may either be scheduled for a period within our school day or during after school hours. Our one-on-one and two-on-one classes are designed to provide our students with alternatives, flexibility with school scheduling, as well as make it possible for our students to earn their high school credits beyond the regular, bell-scheduled day. These personalized courses are ideal for students who desire early graduation, students who compete on the National and International levels, students who participate in extra-curricular activities, and students in need of make-up courses.

Multi-Sensory

A wide variety of instructional techniques are implemented to amplify the effectiveness of our superbly accomplished and comprehensive curriculum. Teachers deliver course concepts through a strategic blend of instructional mediums that support all types of learners: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. This flexibility in teaching provides our student body with the advantage of mastering concepts and maximizing their success.

ASSIST

Our Monday through Friday, teacher-directed, two-hour, After School Study & Instruction that Supports Teaching program is available to all Cal Coast Academy students. Organizational and study skills are integrated into the after school study time as teachers answer questions and expose students to a review of any concept(s) needing clarification. Students also receive assistance with time-management skills and test preparation.

Tutoring

Cal Coast Academy provides before and/or after school tutoring for all students, in all academic subjects. Tutoring sessions are setup entirely around the student's availability and can either be met on our campus, at an alternative location suitable for learning, or within the student's home. Cal Coast Academy recommends a minimum of two, one-hour sessions per week. All of our tutoring lessons are conducted on a one-to-one basis and students meet with the same instructor every time.
